Last March, the Más de Llucia Winery and the Hotel Torre del Marqués took part in the III Salón de Peñín of Aragon, held at the Hotel Palafox in Zaragoza. The event brought together 56 Aragonese wineries and over 500 industry professionals, and has established itself as the largest showcase for Aragonese wine in the capital.
Being at the Salón Peñín offers the chance to put a face to a particular approach to wine: estate and single-vineyard wines from the Matarraña region, each with its own distinct identity and deeply rooted in this unique terroir.
The wines on offer in Zaragoza
The full range was presented, from the estate wines to the single-vineyard wines, each with its own story:
Lo Foc Tinto 2023 and Lo Foc Blanco 2023
Finca’s wines are the result of blending the estate’s grape varieties, which are vinified separately and then blended in the proportions specific to each vintage. Lo Foc —meaning ‘the fire’, the gathering place of the old farmhouses— is also the spirit of Más de Llucia: a place to come together and share.
Saviesa Garnacha Tinta 2023
Old Garnacha from the Saviesa plot, where the river’s boulders bear witness to a late awakening. Vines that weather the spring frosts with the wisdom that comes with age, growing with minimal intervention.
Senglar Cariñena 2023
A Cariñena grown at altitude, with deep roots that reach for water high up on the hillside. A vintage that shares the limelight with the wild boar—known locally as ‘senglar’—which inhabits the surrounding woods.
Plorona Garnacha Tinta and Alicante Bouschet 2023 · Plorona 2024 · Plorona Barrica 2024
At the foot of an old farmhouse, the cool clay nurtures the first vines to awaken. The ‘weeping’ of the vine after pruning gives this plot its name and marks the beginning of each new vintage.
Tres Hermanas Garnacha Blanca 2023 · Tres Hermanas 2024
Three plots terraced on a gentle slope, with a slight difference in elevation that gives each its own distinct character. A single Garnacha Blanca with three distinct nuances.
An event that is growing
This third edition of the Salón Peñín attracted around 400 wine enthusiasts and 500 industry professionals, including distributors, restaurateurs and influencers. The showroom format facilitates direct contact, meaningful conversations and the discovery of projects like ours: small-scale, meticulous and rooted in a specific region.
Más de Llucia: the Matarraña region
The Más de Llucia estate is located in the Matarraña region, in the province of Teruel, a corner of Aragon with an extraordinary culinary and scenic character. The wines are produced from plots with their own names and aim to express that terroir in every glass.
